Today is Father’s Day and I have had a really good day. It started with me heading out early on my bike, for what turned out to be a really fun ride. It was so much better than the ride I had on Thursday.
It was already quite hot and humid, as I left home around 8.00am this morning. I normally head north for my longer rides, but today I chose to head east. I wanted to explore a little and find some new roads to ride on. After about thirty minutes, I came across a ‘road closed’ sign, which forced me off my planned route.
It was a good job that my legs were feeling stronger than they did on Thursday. The detour from that closed road, went up a long and steep hill. When I saw it I was a little concerned, but once at the top, I knew that today’s ride was going to be fun.
I ended up exploring quite a few new roads and some of them were really nice. A couple of them had nice fresh asphalt and I was able to get down in aero and fly. After a quick break to eat a banana and have a good drink of water, I turned west and found some familiar roads.
All in all I ended up very happy with my ride. It finally feels like my leg strength and breathing are coming around. Great news, as I prepare for the C26 Volume Training Camp coming up later this week.
