I Am Tired Even Though I Didn’t Work Out

I didn’t work out today.  That doesn’t mean that I wasn’t physically active.  I was actually ‘active’, for about six hours. I spent all day painting our dining room.

This evening, I am quite tired. That is due to doing things, that I don’t normally do.  Things like climbing up and down step ladders, reaching overhead to paint and squatting on the floor to tape trim.  I think I used lot of muscles, in ways that I don’t normally use them.

I should view what I did today as a form of ‘cross-training’.  Cross-training is exercise that involves doing something different to your normal workout routine.  It does you good to cross-train, because it strengthens and mobilizes parts of your body that might need development. I certainly did that today and I suspect some parts of my body, will be a little sore in the morning.

Mentally it can also help to cross-train. Getting away from the routine of regular workouts, can allow your mind to think of other things. I certainly didn’t think a lot about triathlon today.

So, I didn’t work out today, but my body did do a workout.  That’s a good thing and it’s a good job that I am OK with it too.  There is more painting to be done next week!!
