As I wrote yesterday, I have been struggling to fully recover from pushing hard at Ironman Chattanooga. Even though I am still hurting, I decided that today was the day, to start doing something in terms of working out.
With my legs feeling bad, the obvious choice was to head to the pool. I figured that I could easily swim without further impacting my legs. All I needed to do, was swim with a pull buoy. So that is what I did.
Mid-afternoon, after getting my flu shot, I headed to LA Fitness. Luckily the pool was quiet and I had a lane to myself. I chose to do a simple swim workout. I did a 4 x 500 swim with the pull buoy. Swimming was fine. Turning around at the end of each lap however, was tough with my sore legs.
I swam quite well and got into a rhythm. This resulted in negative splitting the workout. I have worked hard on my swim this year, and I finally feel like I am seeing progress from all that effort.
Even if I am still hurting in the morning, I have decided that tomorrow, I will do an easy spin on my bike trainer. Movement is good and I find that my legs hurt the most, right after sitting still for a while. I am slowly getting there.
