Tomorrow afternoon, a new TV show called “Anything Is Possible” begins, with a 60 minute documentary about Chris Nikic. On November 7th last year, Chris Nikic became the first athlete with Down Syndrome, to complete a full distance Ironman race.
Chris accomplished this amazing feat of endurance, by following his mantra of trying to become 1% better, every day. This is something we can all learn from. Just be incredibly consistent; workout every day and be patient about improvement. Eventually you can achieve something you wouldn’t have believed was possible.
I buy into this approach, because I have lived my own version of ‘anything is possible’. When I started to run in January 2014, if you had told me that one day I would run in the Boston Marathon, I would have laughed and said that it was impossible.
I kept running however, and gradually I got a little faster. Then I kept running some more, and slowly I got even faster. Eventually, the thought that I could qualify for Boston, entered my mind. I then spent six months, dedicating myself to that dream, trying to get a little better every week. It worked… I did get to run in Boston.
Is there something that you think is ‘impossible’? Do you want to complete a triathlon? Do you want to finish a marathon? Do you want to qualify for Boston? Whatever your goal is, I am here to tell you that I know you can improve. I know that you can be better than you are today. Will you achieve the ‘impossible’? I cannot promise that, but if you want to try, I can help you. I can answer you questions; I can provide encouragement and, if you decide you need a coach to help you, I can do that too.
Do you believe ‘Anything Is Possible”?
