I like to race on a clean and shiny bike, so I always clean my bike a day or two before race day.  As I will be flying with my bike to Oceanside later this week, I decided to wash my bike today.

Normally I would wash my bike outside, but it snowed all day today.  I had to resort to washing the bike in my garage. This was not a big problem, but it was still very cold, because I had the garage door open, to let in enough light.

I have a standard approach to washing my bike. I wrote about it in this blog post. In addition to the wash, I also gave my bike a thorough inspection. I checked the tires for damage and also checked all the fasteners again, even though I did that last week.

The bike is now back in the basement and I am letting it thoroughly dry out, before packing it into my bike case tomorrow. I love to clean my bike, especially when I know it is for a race.  That shiny bike experience is all part of race day for me….
