When I opened my Instagram feed this morning, the first post I saw was from C26 Triathlon. Staring at me from the post, was a picture of me. I was this week’s featured coach.
I feel very honored to be the featured coach. I got to have my photo all over the various C26 social media channels. I was also able to share a little about my background, and why I like coaching.
Since becoming a certified coach last year, I have been lucky enough to coach some great athletes. Coaching has been more fun than I ever hoped it would be, and it is the people that make it that way. Setting up training programs is part of it, but mostly, the joy comes from getting to know my athletes and helping them work towards their goals.
This upcoming weekend is going to be special too. I will be spectating Ironman 70.3 Ohio. Not only will I get to see a lot of my C26 Triathlon teammates race, I will also get to support one of the athletes who I coach. This will be a completely new experience for me. I think I might be more nervous about this, than if I was doing the race myself.
When I did my first triathlon, a little over five years ago, I had no idea how much I would fall in love with the sport. I love it so much, because there is always an opportunity to learn. Now that I am coaching, the opportunities to learn have increased exponentially and that makes me really happy.
