I finished my week with a short run and a smile.
I have to admit, it has been a tough and frustrating week. This time last week, I had just finished my huge training block, and was hoping to get right back at training, after a few days of easy recovery workouts. As you know, if you have been reading my blog, it hasn’t quite gone to plan, because I aggravated my knee.
Having skipped working out for the past two days, and really focusing on resting my knee, it felt a lot better today. I did have a long run scheduled, but in the end, I decided to just do a five mile run around the lake at the local park. The run went quite well, with only very minor knee pain, and that is why I’m smiling in the photo.
While I am not completely recovered, I am getting better. The recovery process is slow and that is why it is important, to take a step back, and look back a whole week. Last Monday morning, my knee was really sore and quite painful when I woke up. This morning, the feeling in my knee was significantly better than that.
I have often said that triathlon is a journey and this week, I took a slight detour. The good news is that the road I chose, one of resting my knee, has taken me in the right general direction. Hopefully, by this time next week, I will be completely back on track.
