Today was a really tough day. I don’t know why, but I just felt down today. Maybe it was the fact that the weather has been cold and gray for several days. Perhaps it was the fact that there seems to be no quick end to the effects of the pandemic (projections for when I get the vaccine range from July to September). Maybe it was the fact that I am still suffering from a niggling Achilles injury.
Whatever was bugging me, it caused me to procrastinate all day long. I only had a one hour, easy pace run to do, but I just couldn’t bring myself to do it. I think part of the problem was, that my Achilles issue meant that I really needed to do my run on the treadmill. I am not a big fan of treadmill running, and I cannot remember the last time that I ran for an hour on the treadmill. I am not so sure, that I have ever run for an hour on the treadmill.
To try and get myself out of my funk, I went for a hike at the local park with my wife. We walked for less than an hour, but it definitely helped. Just getting out the house was key and even though it was cold, the fresh air helped.
Late afternoon, I did eventually get my run done. I ran for an hour on the treadmill. I also followed it up with a weightlifting workout. I am not sure how, but I found a way to get my workouts done.
