I pulled out my Asics Metaracer run flats this afternoon. I will be running in them tomorrow morning, as I do my last race of the year. The race is a 5K that supports a local charity. The race is called Run Santa Run.
Given that I have only been running for a couple of weeks since injury, I know that I am not in great shape for this race. Running a 5K is always painful because I usually red-line it the whole way. Tomorrow might get really ugly.
The good news is that the race course is perfectly flat. It is an out and back on a rails-to-trails pathway. I did the race last year and ran quite well. I don’t think I will be anywhere near as quick this year.
The weather looks to be mild, but there is a fair chance of rain. I hope it stays dry. Not because I mind running in the rain, but because there will be a lot of fun runners out there tomorrow. Running in the rain is no fun for them.
My last race of the year might not be pretty, but it’s still a race and I’ll want to do well. How do you think I will do?
