I was finally able to find time to work on my bike upgrade this weekend. Everything that needs to be removed has been taken off and the remaining parts all cleaned.
I have the last few parts needed to complete this job in route – new brake and derailleur cables. I should be able to get a good portion of the work done by this time next week.
I am still debating about switching out the bottom bracket. It’s probably OK for now, but I am wondering if a new one, would just be one less thing to worry about for the remainder of the year.
You will also notice that I have removed the chain. I am going to transition to waxing my chain. I have been reading a lot about it and although it is slightly more time consuming, it has friction benefits and you can avoid the dreaded chain tattoo.
I do enjoy working on the bike … hopefully my next photo will show a beautiful new front end, ready for the upcoming season of racing.
Quick footnote : My website is pretty basic right now. I chose to start sharing first, rather than spending time making the website complete before launching the blog. I’m looking forward to building the website over time into a useful resource for you .. just another part of my ‘life’ that you will get to read about.
