I have always been motivated by learning new things. Continuous education not only motivates me, but also enables me to provide a better service to my athletes as a coach.
As a USAT certified coach, I also have to commit to staying current with the sport of triathlon. As part of remaining certified, I have to complete a number of continuing education units (CUEs). These are courses about various aspects of triathlon, that include a test to verify learning.
I have been browsing the list of continuing education units at the USA Triathlon website, to identify areas that interest me. I not only want to learn more about topics that intrigue me, but I also want to learn about certain aspects of coaching, that are particularly helpful to my athletes.
As an older athlete, one particular area that I am focusing on is strength and conditioning. As we age, strength training becomes more important. Learning more about strength training for triathletes is something I have been planning to do. I was therefore quite pleased to see that USA Triathlon offers a CUE called “Strength Training for Triathlon Success”.
To fulfill my need for continuous education, I think I will sign up for this strength training course. It will be a good thing to occupy me, when I get back from vacation.
