I always like to do a workout on January 1st. I feel that by doing this, I set the tone for the year ahead. Today, my wife and I chose to join the local run club and we had a great run in the rain.
I was a very wet day here in Pittsburgh, but it was fine for running, because it was also very warm. It was 55’F, which meant I ran in shorts, a short-sleeved top and a light rain jacket. I still got a little hot.
We ran through the streets of the Shadyside / East Liberty area of Pittsburgh and got plenty of “Happy New Year” greetings from people we passed on the route. A new year always seems to make people just a little bit happier.
I am very optimistic for the upcoming year. My first full year of retirement. An opportunity to train and race more effectively, and to hopefully help out others through my coaching.
I spent quite a bit of time thinking about the year ahead, while enjoying my run in the rain today. It may have been raining on me hard, but inside I was a ray of sunshine.
