Today’s terrible photograph is a picture of my legs spinning on the bike trainer today. I had woken up with very tight leg muscles, and the IT Band of my right leg was feeling very sore. I could have chosen to not work out today, but I know that often, movement is good in situations like these.
My IT Band was really sore all day, but I was determined to ride my bike. My thinking was that, after a few pedal strokes, my legs would feel fine. So I went down to the basement late this afternoon and got onto my bike.
My scheduled workout was quite a tough one, but luckily it started with an easy spin to warm up. I started the workout and sure enough, after a couple of pedal strokes, I could no longer feel any discomfort in my IT Band.
By the end of the workout my quads were aching, but that was from the longer tempo intervals I had just completed. My IT Band was fine and still feels much better this evening. Hopefully it will still feel improved in the morning.
I was convinced that my aches this morning were not an injury, and so I felt comfortable moving forward with my training. I felt confident in my belief that movement is good, and that appears to be right so far. Tomorrow morning will tell the full story.
