I last ran on October 22nd. That is now a whole month without running, and I really miss it. Running was the sport that got me into triathlon, and I still love to run.
The main reason for my lack of running has been an Achilles injury. It has improved dramatically these past two weeks, but I am being very cautious about returning to running. Obviously I don’t want a relapse of the injury, but I can also afford to be patient this time of year.
November is typically the month where I work out the least. It is when I allow my body to recover from all the work done during the year. At this time of year, I usually put on a few extra pounds of weight, and just do workouts when I feel like doing them. I have been really enjoying the bike work I started last week, so my desire to run has been held in check.
With that all said, a month without running is still a long time. I am thinking of trying a short treadmill run some time this week, just to test out the injury. If all feels good on the treadmill, then I will graduate to running outdoors again. I just need to weather to warm up a bit !!
