When I got out of bed this morning and took my first steps, I was immediately aware of pain in my left achilles. This came out of nowhere, but I knew straight away, that I needed to work on fixing it.
Niggles can very quickly escalate into injuries, if you don’t work on them early and often. Whenever, I feel something in the area of my achilles, I do three things. I foam roll my calf muscles; I work the bottom of my foot with a spiked ball and I do heel raises on the bottom step of my stairs.
I’m not sure where this niggle came from, but one thing that has started to concern me a little, is the amount of sitting I am doing, while working from home. I have a standing desk in my office at work, but I don’t have that option at home. Long periods of sitting are not good for me. I start to get stiff and my muscles get tight. I need to plan more breaks in my day to get up and walk around.
Luckily, I don’t have a run workout today. Hopefully, by working on my niggle today, I will be able to run without pain tomorrow.
