Sitting in my makeshift ‘work from home’ office today, I couldn’t help but keep staring out of the window. The weather outside was perfect.
March weather can be very fickle here in Pittsburgh. Snow would not be unusual, but today it was sunny and 65’F. I knew I had a 90 minute Zone 1/2 ride scheduled for this evening, and as I stared out the window, I also knew I wasn’t going to be riding the trainer.
Eventually five o’clock rolled around and I could get my bike ready for the outside ride. The sun had disappeared behind clouds, but it was still warm. For short rides I normally head to the local park, where there is a nice 5 mile loop around a lake. Today however, I decided to head north into the country.
I had a great ride. The roads were really quiet. I got to experience the countryside in peace. I saw deer, groundhogs, squirrels and lots of birds. I took my time, enjoyed the scenery and had fun deciding where I would stop to take todays photo. I hope you like my choice.
My ride today was great stress relief. I think it’s really important to try and get outside right now. The forced ‘work from home’ routine, that I have to endure for at least a few more weeks, has me cooped up in my house for almost 24 hours a day. That is not healthy.
Looking ahead, it looks like the weekend weather will allow me to ride outside for my three hour long ride. I hope it works out … I think I have a great spot for a photo.
