Nutrition Remains A Challenge

Managing my nutrition continues to be a challenge.  It has been particularly difficult, while I have not been working out due to my injuries.

I have to admit, that I have let my nutrition plan go off track this past week.  I have been eating well for my main meals, but snacking and late night munchies have led me astray.  Cookies, chips, crackers and cheese were my downfall (the four C’s of failure.. LOL).  Oh and too many glasses of wine on top of that.  I am sure that I am far from alone on this front, but I am determined to forge on with my plan.

The one good thing that I did do, while I was not eating well, was to continue tracking my food.  This proved beneficial, because the bad days are obvious when looking at trends over time.  It was while looking at the trends, that I made the decision to get back to it today.  I have done well so far.

The photo above is what I had for lunch.  It was quite a large and filling meal.

The salad was as follows:  1/4 cup each of cherry tomatoes, romaine lettuce, baby spinach, kale and a cruciferous mix from Trader Joes.  I added 1/3 cup of quinoa and 1/3 cup of mixed corn and black beans.  Finally there was 3 ounces of chopped steak.

The fruit was 2-3 ounces each of grapes, blueberries, pineapple and mango.

Overall this gave me about 140 g of carbohydrates, 40 grams of protein and 25 g of fat. The calories added up to about 925.  Th whole thing was also very tasty.

It’s easy to fall off the wagon, but today has shown me, that it is also quite easy to get back on.

Quick footnote :  My website is pretty basic right now.  I chose to start sharing first, rather than spending time making the website complete before launching the blog.  I’m looking forward to building the website over time into a useful resource for you .. just another part of my ‘life’ that you will get to read about.
