My Goals For Tomorrow At Ironman Chattanooga

As I prepare to tackle Ironman Chattanooga tomorrow, I have been thinking about my goals for the race.  The number one goal is always to get to the finish line, while also having fun.

Some of my biggest goals are personal and I don’t even share them with my wife.  Some of my other goals are:

  • Relax on the swim and conserve energy for the rest of the day.  It is a downstream river swim, so a steady swim will still get me a good time.
  • Stay controlled early on the bike and assess how the day is going, before possibly pushing a little harder.
  • I want to get off the bike feeling great, because the run is where I want to do really well.
  • I want to run a really smart Ironman marathon. I plan to go really deep, leaving nothing out there on the course.

I also have the goal of looking out for all of my teammates and encouraging them when I see them.  I want to meet my goals, but equally, I want them to meet their goals too.
