My wife and I drove to the Columbus, Ohio area today.  We are here to spectate the Ironman 70.3 race, in nearby Delaware on Sunday.

I got my run workout done early this morning, before packing our bags for the weekend.  Upon arriving in Columbus, we immediately went to dinner with around thirty C26 triathlon teammates and family members.  It was great to see some old friends and meet new ones, including one of my coached athletes.

It feels very strange to be in town for a race and not be racing myself.  Part of me wishes I was racing, but I am equally looking forward to watching the race.

I have done this particular race before, which will help when it comes to seeing my friends on the course.  It is a two transition race, which means getting up really early to drive to the swim start, and then rushing back into Delaware in time to see the athletes come in off the bike.  Then I will move about a mile and a half into the run course, so I can see people a couple of times on the loop of the run course.

Spectating an Ironman 70.3 race looks like it is going to be a hectic experience.  I should get a good workout in on Sunday, just by following my friends and teammates.
