I had a great swim tonight and during my regular post-swim routine, I decided that today’s blog would be about that routine. So here it is …
1. Get out of the pool and immediately rinse off at the pool-side shower.
2. Head to my locker. Dump all my swim stuff and grab my post workout drink. This is either just plain water, or more often than not, a protein recovery drink.
3. Into the sauna for 15 minutes of ‘me-time’ … no phone (it overheats anyway).
4. After the sauna, I take a cool shower, get dressed and head out.
That 15 minutes in the sauna is a great use of my time. I get some heat acclimatization. I sweat out all the chlorine from the pool. I have time to just sit and think.
Taking 15 minutes of your day, to just think, is very therapeutic. Today, I not only thought about my blog but also reflected on the foot injury, that is stopping me from running. I’ll let you know all about that tomorrow …
Quick footnote : My website is pretty basic right now. I chose to start sharing first, rather than spending time making the website complete before launching the blog.
