I Have Never Done This Before In A Swim Workout

I think I was pretty determined to get my swim workout done this evening.  Most of the time that I have gone to my pool lately, it has been fairly quiet.  Not so this evening.

I swim at a local LA Fitness gym.  The swim rules right now are, one swimmer per lane and a maximum swim time of 20 minutes, if others are waiting.

When I arrived at the pool this evening, the pool was full.  The pool only has three lanes and there was a swimmer in each one of them.  I had no idea how long each of the swimmer had been in the pool.  This meant my wait to get into the water, could be up to 20 minutes.

I sat on the pool deck and watched the swimmers.  The time passed by, and fifteen minutes later, one of them got out of the pool.  It was my turn to swim.  As soon as I started swimming however, two other people showed up.  They would take over the other lanes, within the next few minutes.  The pool was now, once again full, and I was on the hook to get out after twenty minutes, if another swimmer showed up.

Sure enough, not five minutes later, another swimmer appeared on deck.  I kept swimming.  I hoped one of the other swimmers would get out of the pool.  They didn’t.  I was forced to give up my lane, when only half way through my workout.

Up until recently, I would have called it quits and gone home.  I have been really enjoying swimming lately however, so I decided to sit on the deck and wait for another lane to open up.  Eventually, ten  minutes later, I was back in the pool.

I did manage to complete my workout.  The irony was, that for the final minutes of my swim, I was the only person in the pool.  As I walked out of the gym, a few minutes later, the pool was still empty.  Just a case of bad timing, I guess!
