With tomorrow’s sprint triathlon likely to be my only race of 2020, I guess it is going to be my ‘A’ race. An ‘A’ race, is the race on your calendar, where you aim to be at peak fitness and where you want to get your best result.
I can say that I am at a good fitness level and that I am in good shape with no signifiant niggles or injuries to worry about. I haven’t done a great deal of sprint specific training, like very fast run workouts, but I feel ready to go hard and lay it all out there.
I will be racing totally by feel tomorrow. I won’t be wearing a heart rate monitor or a watch. My plan is to complete a steady swim, go really hard on the bike and run the best 5K that I can. I will either run one of my fastest 5K’s or I will blow up; I don’t want to leave anything on the table. The plan is to empty the tank and burn all those matches that I have saved up all year.
Not much more to say, other than I know that whatever happens, I will have fun. I am grateful to even have a race and I am going to make sure I enjoy it.
