The last time I swam was twelve weeks ago. Since then, the pools and open water swimming at State Parks, have been prohibited due to the pandemic.
Tomorrow, the swim areas at Pennsylvania State Parks are opening up, with appropriate social distancing. Finally, I will have the chance to swim again.
Even though the weather has been quite warm, the water at the lake where I swim, will likely still be quite cold. That means I’ll be swimming in my wetsuit. That is probably a good thing, because it will help me with my swimming. Wetsuits really help average swimmers like me. They provide the buoyancy to get you horizontal in the water, which makes it a lot easier to swim.
I will definitely go and swim, at least once this weekend. Hopefully I can time it, for when the swim area is not crowded. The swim areas are not that big, so swimming ‘laps’ can be a challenge, if it is crowded.
My pool is still closed, with no timeline for opening yet. The good news is that I have a long time before my next race in September. I made good progress with my swimming over the winter. Hopefully, I can quickly get back to where I was.
